How to Be Saved

In order to receive salvation, you first must come into contact with the gospel through some medium.  “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)  Whether through the witness of a believer, a gospel tract, a radio program, or some other means, you must hear the truth that you are a sinner, you needs a Savior, and this must register in your mind.  Knowledge alone does not save, but you are not saved without first having a knowledge of the gospel.  Faith must have substance and evidence.  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb. 11:1)

The power of the gospel message "For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth."(Romans 1:16b) is driven home to the heart so that you may come to a newfound sense of his sin and your need.  This results in a surrender to the truth and a humble admission that you are lost and need to be saved.  You must be persuaded and come to repentance (Luke 16:29-31) of your guilt and to the one and only solution which is the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who died for you and rose again.  When you receive this gospel, the Lord gives an inner peace in your heart.

Now  you are ready to commit and call upon the Lord Jesus to save you. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Rom. 10:9,10)  You must to stake your soul upon the fact that what Jesus did in His death, burial, and resurrection is sufficient to save you. You come to God without terms, resigning yourself to God's mercy and grace.
